The Dallas Cowboys are forced to rebound quickly after a letdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Things do not get any easier for Dallas, as the Philadelphia Eagles head to town this weekend.
Dallas dropped the previous matchup with Philadelphia earlier this season. However, that was with Dak Prescott out with injury. There was a lot of hype centered around the Christmas Eve battle with Prescott in action.
Instead, the hype has simmered down with the Cowboys losing to the Jaguars. That defeat all but took Dallas out of the race for the NFC East crown and No. 1 seed in the NFC. Still, it is a heated rivalry game that the Cowboys are wanting to win.
Cowboys catch two breaks

Jalen Hurts' health is another key factor in the matchup losing a bit of hype. Hurts injured his shoulder against the Bears and reports surfaced on Monday that he could potentially miss the rest of the regular season.
That is a big blow to the Eagles for the short-term future. It is also an on-field advantage that the Cowboys must capitalize on. You never want to see a quarterback go down, and the Cowboys experienced that scenario earlier this season.
If Hurts does indeed miss Saturday's game, it would mean that both regular season matchups between the NFC East rivals would feature backup quarterbacks. Something to consider if the Cowboys and Eagles meet up in the playoffs.
The other break is more directly related to the Cowboys. Leighton Vander Esch left the loss to the Jaguars early, and there was concern about how long he would be sidelined. Fortunately, it does not appear that LVE will be kept out the remainder of the year.
MRI results revealed a best-case scenario for the Cowboys. Instead of a potential neck injury, Vander Esch is dealing with a "nerve issue" in his shoulder. The Cowboys' leading tackler is considered week-to-week.
Three more weeks remain in the regular season. Getting back in the win column and staying healthy are the two priorities for the Dallas Cowboys ahead of playoff action.
