The Pittsburgh Steelers signed linebacker Myles Jack this week after the linebacker was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jack was a bit of a hot commodity after he was released. And for good reason — Jack led the Jaguars in tackles last season.

So how did the former UCLA standout land with Pittsburgh instead of another team? It's all because of a conversation Jack had with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

Jack met with the media on Thursday and he said Tomlin told him that the Steelers are trying to win a championship in 2022. Tomlin told Jack that Pittsburgh needs him to reach that goal.

And that was all Jack needed to hear.

The Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens, to some extent, are the teams everyone is talking about in the AFC North. But that's fine with Tomlin. His goal to win a championship remains the same, regardless of what the national media is saying.

Jack hasn't been to the playoffs since his second year in the league and he's obviously hungry to return. He knows the Steelers have a playoff roster and he believes in the team's potential to reach the Super Bowl. That alone should be exciting to fans.

Don't worry if people are sleeping on the Steelers this fall. Pittsburgh has an elite defense and they'll be making plenty of noise on Sundays.
