The bye week for the Cowboys has finally ended as it felt like the longest football week ever.
NFL football does not seem to be the same when the Cowboys are not in action.
The team has begun practice earlier today at the Star to gear up against the Minnesota Vikings.
An interesting storyline has come out as La'el Collins has returned to practice after serving his five-game suspension.
The coaching staff has said swing tackle Terrence Steele will remain with the first team at RT.
With this news, let's discuss a few reasons why Collins would be the best option against the Vikings.
Collins is the better player
Undoubtedly, Steele has done a tremendous job holding his own while Collins served his suspension, but he is not overall better than Collins.
The Cowboys have their swing tackle in Steele for the future who is fairly cheap for the next few years.
Collins would be the better option to start as he's better than Steele in pass protection, which is needed on Sunday.
Yes, Collins has missed the last 21 out of 22 games but when he is on the field, he is a Pro Bowl tackle that Dallas will need down the stretch.
This will not be the best matchup for Steele even though he has played well. Cowboys need their best guys on the offensive line against a good Vikings front.
Throughout practice this week, the coaching staff can see that Collins will be the better option this week and going forward.
Minnesota presents challenge on the defensive line
The Cowboys will need to be on their A-game as the Vikings present a challenge from their defensive front.
Currently, the Vikings are tied for first in sacks (21) which shows they can get after the quarterback even though they have not blitzed frequently.
Their premier pass rusher Danielle Hunter has been on a tear with six sacks on the season after missing time last year due to injury.
By inserting Collins back in the lineup, not only do you have your better tackle but he will make sure Dak (who is dealing with a calf injury) stays upright.
Had it not been for the injury to Dak and the defensive line the Cowboys are facing, then it would be best to work Collins back in at a good pace.
We will not have the final answer until Friday or Saturday but the best option for the team would be to allow Collins, Zack Martin, and Tyron Smith to slow down the Vikings pass rush.
