Dallas Cowboys Antwaun Woods

The 2021 NFL Draft wrapped a few days ago, but the Dallas Cowboys are not done making some roster moves. The Dallas Cowboys parted ways with defensive tackle Antwaun Woods on Wednesday morning.

Woods was an undrafted free agent out of USC and began his career with the Tennessee Titans in 2016. Dallas signed him after a two-year stint in Nashville. Since then, Woods grew into a formindale piece along the Cowboys defensive line.

Antwaun Woods started 32 games at defensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys over the last three seasons. Dallas just drafted two defensive tackles last week — Osa Odighizuwa in the third-round and Quinton Bohanna in the sixth-round — so that likely played some kind of role in moving on from Woods.

The move to cut Woods will save the Cowboys $2 million in cap space without any dead cap.

COWBOYS CUT CORNER SAIVION SMITH

Additionally, the Cowboys released cornerback Saivion Smith on Wednesday. Smith was a blue-chip recruit out of high school that played at both LSU and Alabama. Things have just not worked out for him in the NFL, though.

Smith signed with the Jaguars as a UDFA in 2019 before trying his hand in the XFL. Dallas picked up Smith last April.

The Cowboys need to get down to the 90-man roster limit, hence these two moves on Wednesday. Dallas still needs to cut four more players in order to get to that limit, so expect some more moves to be made soon.
