The Tennessee Vols accomplished something against Akron on Saturday night that they haven't accomplished since 2014.
According to ESPN's broadcast, the Vols' sellout against Akron (101,915 fans — the new capacity at Neyland) –is Tennessee's first sellout against a non-Power-5 program since 2014 against Utah State.
It was also the Vols' first sellout in a non-conference game since the Oklahoma game in 2015.

Selling out the Akron game is considerably more impressive than selling out the Oklahoma or Utah State games (the Utah State game was the season-opener on a Sunday night). Akron is nowhere close to being in the same league as either of those programs.
This just goes to show that Tennessee fans are loving what they see from Josh Heupel and this staff. After the Jeremy Pruitt era — which didn't result in many points being scored — it has to be refreshing for Vol fans to see Heupel's offense putting up a ridiculous amount of points on a regular basis.
