The SEC is going to look a lot different in the coming years.
We just aren't sure how different it will look.
Oklahoma and Texas are set to join the SEC by 2025. Other programs will likely jump to the SEC as well in the coming years. The East/West division set up in its current form will almost certainly be a thing of the past.
Will the SEC have a pod system? Will there be two divisions? Three divisions? No divisions?
Those are all questions that will be sorted out at some point. For now, all we can do is speculate.

Mississippi State Bulldogs head coach Mike Leach is fine with speculating. It's a sport for him. And on Tuesday during his appearance at SEC Media Days in Atlanta, Leach made a suggestion that would impact the Tennessee Vols.
Leach suggested that Alabama and Auburn move to the SEC East after Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC (the Longhorns and the Sooners would be in the West).
Geographically, it makes sense (though Missouri being in the SEC East still will never make sense…unless the SEC expands to the west coast).
And it's a scenario that would actually work in Tennessee's favor.
The Vols already play Alabama every single year. So being in the same division as the Crimson Tide wouldn't be a big deal. Auburn seems to be coming back to earth under Bryan Harsin, so the Tigers aren't that scary (for now).
This would be a better scenario for Tennessee than playing Alabama every year and then having Oklahoma in the same division and maybe another SEC West team like LSU.
I doubt this scenario happens, though. I think the SEC wants to keep Alabama's rivalries with the other SEC West programs intact. I also think they want to avoid having Alabama and Georgia in the same division.
Who knows what it will ultimately look like. I tend to think that a pod system or three divisions are more likely. But it's certainly possible that the SEC could go with two mega divisions instead. We'll just have to see how it plays out in the coming months/years.
