Yesterday, we wrote that NFL teams around the league are interested in multiple Dallas Cowboys assistant coaches. Kellen Moore is set to interview with the Philadelphia Eagles, while the Eagles are also reportedly interested in John Fassel.

Today, the Cowboys themselves added a new coach to Mike McCarthy's coaching staff. Dallas recently hired former Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn as the new defensive coordinator after firing Mike Nolan. The Cowboys also hired defensive assistant Joe Whitt Jr. as secondary coach. Whitt coached under Quinn in Atlanta.

It appears that the Cowboys are not done adding former Falcons coaches.

There is a third member of the 2020 Atlanta Falcons coaching staff that is set to join the Dallas Cowboys.

Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt Jr. were apparently not enough for Dallas when it comes to adding coaches with Atlanta Falcons ties. ESPN's Todd Archer reported on Wednesday morning that the Cowboys are hiring Aden Durde as defensive line coach.

Durde spent the previous three seasons coaching under Quinn in Atlanta. He began as a defensive quality control coach in 2018 before being promoted to outside linebackers coach in 2019 and keeping that role in 2020.

Additionally, Durde held defensive coordinator responsibilities for the London Warriors of the BAFANL before transitioning to the National Football League. He also was an intern under Jason Garrett with the Dallas Cowboys for a year.

It seems a little strange for the Cowboys to hire three coaches with a direct impact on the Falcons' mediocre-to-bad defense. That said, Quinn is obviously comfortable with Durde and appears to like what the 41-year-old brings to the staff. That is an important element as Quinn attempts to improve the defense in Dallas.

Prior to getting his start in the coaching profession, Durde played professionally internationally and in the NFL. His stops overseas include the London Olympians, Scottish Claymores, and Hamburg Sea Devils, and he played linebacker for both the Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs as well.

The Cowboys moved on from the highly-respected Jim Tomsula as defensive line coach when the decision to fire Mike Nolan was made. Now, McCarthy is putting his defensive line in the hands of a young, rising coach that already has a relationship with the Cowboys' defensive coordinator.
