All signs point upward for J.J. Redick and the Dallas Mavericks.

Redick went through a full practice on Saturday, and it is rumored that the 3-point sniper will make his Mavs debut on Monday.

He was added to the Mavs' roster on the trade deadline, but his debut was delayed due to a nagging heel injury. But the injury appears to finally be on the mend, and a debut just around the corner.

"My Achilles and heel are sore, but it’s sore all the time,” Redick said. “I’m just managing it right now. It’s the first time going live and I thought it went really well. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow. The antsy-ness is real right now. I’m anxious to play."

What he brings:

With the Redick addition, depth and dimension are added to Dallas' rotation heading into the home stretch. And when asked about what he aimed to bring to the team, Redick said: "I’m going to help them a lot – spreading the floor, giving space to guys like Jalen [Brunson] and Luka [Dončić] and also being a voice of leadership and reason and going out there competing."

Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle was impressed with Redick's workout, and he is optimistic for a Monday debut.

"He did very well," he said. "We’re looking forward to having him play – hopefully it’s Monday, but if not, hopefully sometime soon after."

In New Orleans this season, Redick averaged 8.7 points per game. In those 31 games played in New Orleans, he shot 36 percent from three – a noticeable dip from his 45 percent mark in the 2019 season.

What to expect:

Still, it is widely known that Redick brings intercity, excellence and a competitive fervor that can only help the Mavericks moving forward.

"He brings an intensity, he brings experience, really a historic skill. If you look at his 3-point shooting, in the history of the game, he’s one of the best ever," Carlisle said.

Redick being ready to go on Monday will be a welcome sign for Dallas, as it continues its surge up the Western Conference standings. His 1,935 3-pointers are the 15th most in NBA history. And his 41.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc is 19th in league history.

A guy like Redick can help any team. It's great that he is helping Dallas.

"A guy like that is always good for the culture of your team," Carlisle said. "It was great having him out there today in as much of a full-practice situation as you can get in this kind of a season. He’s been great to work with.”
