The Dallas Cowboys are set to return to action after spending its bye week in week seven. Dallas is one of just five teams in the NFL — all in the NFC — to have one or fewer losses to this point in the season. As a result, the Cowboys are a serious contender.

However, there are some obstacles in the way of the Cowboys. Starting with this week: a road matchup with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football.

Minnesota is only 3-3 on the season, but the Vikings' three losses — to the Bengals, Cardinals, and Browns — were by a combined 11 points. On the flip side, the Vikings did struggle with the Lions and Panthers.

COWBOYS FACE IMPRESSIVE PASSING ATTACK

The Dallas Cowboys may have the best passing attack in football. At the very least, the Cowboys are in the thick of that discussion. With that said, the Vikings are not too far behind in that category.

Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen form one of the better wide receiver duos in the NFL. Dalvin Cook is a dangerous on the ground and presents a threat as a pass catcher. KJ Osborn has grown into a solid third option this season.

Then there is Kirk Cousins. Cousins has faced a ton of scrutiny during his career, but the veteran quarterback has played very well in 2021. Minnesota's quarterback has thrown for 1,769 yards and 13 touchdowns through six games. That is in addition to completing nearly 70-percent of his passes and only throwing two interceptions.

Minnesota shredded the Bengals, Seahawks, and Panthers. Cousins threw for at least 323 yards and two touchdowns in each of those three games.

Dallas has gone up against passing attacks from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Chargers this season. The Cowboys struggled against the Buccaneers' prolific passing attack, but Dallas did largely hold its own against the Chargers in a week two win.

Sunday night will give the Dallas Cowboys another big challenge. So far, Trevon Diggs and the secondary have stepped up in big moments for the majority of the season. The Cowboys must find a way to do that again and slow down the Vikings this week.
