The Dallas Cowboys undoubtedly lost some folks some bets in 2020.

Dak Prescott got hurt, the defense struggled, and the coaching was not up to par at times. The hopes were high before the season, but things just did not go their way. 2021 is a new year for everyone, including Dallas and sports bettors. There are a few bets that I think are smart ones for anyone looking to win some cheddar on America's team this year.

(All of these are available on the DraftKings Sportsbook.)

CeeDee Lamb Regular Season Receiving Touchdowns: Over 6.5, -115

This one is especially intriguing. Some may even call it a lock. I'd just call it a smart bet. In a 2020 season where Dak only started four games for Dallas, Lamb still put up five TDs. I would expect that number to increase, and this O/U would only need it to go up a couple for this bet to hit. Not to mention, Dak's passing TD O/U is set at 32.5. If he just gets close to that number, say 30 instead, that would leave plenty of opportunities for CeeDee to reel in at least seven of them.

Not to mention, Amari Cooper has not been the most consistent TD threat as a receiver. The highest number of his career is eight with the Cowboys in 2019. Cooper will get his looks, but Lamb proved he can be a touchdown target last season. The opportunity is absolutely there with how many shootouts the Cowboys may be in this year.

MVP Award Winner: Dak Prescott +1400

This bet is a bit bolder. The bet for him to win Comeback Player of the Year is a lot less risky, but where's the fun in that? Prescott's odds for that one is at +225. So, while there is a lot more variability, there is more value in the MVP odds as well. He'll have to bounce back from his injury in a big way. Also, don't forget he was on a somewhat historic pace before he was forced to miss most of 2020.

Dak's MVP case will have to be built on his numbers – for the most part. Additionally, securing a playoff spot would be vital for him, and at least one or two wins in the postseason would make his chances skyrocket. For that to happen, he and the offense would probably have had to overcome the defense's deficiencies in a big way.

There is also the chance that the defense does find improvement too, though. That would help Dak's numbers in terms of wins and possible postseason success as well.

Defensive Rookie of the Year Award Winner: Micah Parsons +500

He's the favorite. There are a few reasons as to why. Parsons will most likely get the opportunities to have a shot at this award. Players and coaches are raving about his athletic ability and versatility so far this off-season. That will have to show up big on the field and on the stat sheet.

Raw production is so important for this award and this bet. Sacks and tackles will make the biggest difference for Parsons. If he can also be effective in the passing game, this bet gets even better. A couple of interceptions and/or pass deflections could pull him ahead of other linebackers that may make more tackles.

He will need to earn his snaps, but Jaylon Smith's inconsistency and Leighton Vander Esch's availability concerns could open the door for more chances for Parsons. Parsons could also see time as an EDGE rusher, which will only help him make an impact in the backfield.

These are just a handful of money-makers that caught my eye. Feel free to throw a couple bucks on these bets – if you'd like. If you'd rather not, don't!
