In a recent article published by The Athletic, writer and NFL analyst Nate Tice predicted the Tennessee Titans to get upset by the New York Giants during week one.

The article is an NFL round table from Tice, Dan Pompei, and Mike Sando, where the experts predict and discuss popular week one topics.

Here’s what Tice wrote about the Titans when predicting an upset loss:

"The Giants over the Titans. The Titans have a strong defense, but their offense seems to be in transition after Tennessee sent A.J. Brown to the Eagles. The Giants are rebuilding and re-evaluating their personnel with a new regime in charge and Daniel Jones is still proving he belongs as a starting quarterback. He is now with a creative coaching staff, though, that will likely love to use his legs a bit more to make things easier for their offense. The Giants also have a healthy Saquon Barkley and lots of draft capital invested in their offensive line. Look for an ugly fistfight in Nashville, with the Giants a strong candidate to not only cover their 5.5-point spread but outright win."

As Tice said, there’s a good chance Sunday’s opener is an “ugly fist fight” at Nissan stadium. But just because the Titans are in a run-heavy offense with unproven weapons does not mean they won’t win handily.

The Giants shiny new offensive line will have to get down with one of the bets front four's in the National Football League, and the Giants weapons don’t present any drastic mismatches that will give the Titans' secondary problems.

Stopping the Giants’ run attack and containing Jones’ speed will likely be a deciding factor of the game, but if this winds up being a hard-nose football game, the Titans are better equipped to weather that storm.

Offensively, the Titans will use healthy dose of Derrick Henry and play action looks to new Titans tight end Austin Hooper, helping Ryan Tannehill settle in during his first game back at Nissan.

The Titans enter Sunday’s game as 5.5 point favorites (-5.5) on BetMGM.com.
