The 2019 NFL Draft is set to get underway on Thursday and what the Tennessee Titans will do with the 19th overall selection remains a mystery.
There's a chance the Titans will select a defensive lineman or edge rusher at No. 19. Or they could trade up. Or they could trade down. Or they could select a wide receiver. Or they could go rogue and make a pick that no one sees coming.
Or…..just kidding, you get the point.
If the Titans opt to take a wide receiver, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown could be their best bet.
That is, of course, if Brown is still available.
Most analysts have Brown going somewhere in the top 25. Peter King has him going to the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 25. Chris Collinsworth has him going No. 20 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. So he's right in the range where the Titans will be picking (though it wouldn't be shocking to see a team take him a couple of picks ahead of Tennessee).
So why is Brown, who is only 5-foot-10, a popular first round choice?
Well, because he's fast and he's productive.
Brown, who is the cousin of Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown, caught 132 passes for 2,413 yards over his final two seasons at Oklahoma. He didn't run the 40 yard dash at the combine because of injury, but the former Sooner believes he could've set a combine record had he been able to run (Bengals wide receiver John Ross holds the record at 4.22 seconds).
Former NFL running back Chris Johnson, who signed a one day contract to retire a Titan on Wednesday, believes Brown could've put up a number in the 4.2 range at the combine.
Johnson wasn't the only one that had great things to say about Brown on Wednesday.
NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said he'd draft Brown in a "heartbeat".
NFL analyst Greg Cosell echoed those sentiments by comparing Brown's game breaking speed to TY Hilton, Tyreek Hill and DeSean Jackson.
The Titans have plenty of needs to fill. And while they definitely need to add another element to their passing game, I'm not sure they should pass on a defensive lineman or an edge rusher to take a wide receiver in the first round.
But if they do elect to add an offensive weapon for quarterback Marcus Mariota, Hollywood Brown certainly wouldn't be a bad option.
