CBS Sports recently ranked the top five rookie wide receivers by expected production for the 2022 season and they have big expectations for Tennessee Titans rookie wideout Treylon Burks.
Burks, the No. 18 overall pick by the Titans in the 2022 NFL Draft, comes in at No. 2 in CBS Sports' rankings, just behind Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore.
The Titans have an almost unfathomable amount of receiving production to replace from a season ago. They have the highest available target percentage (67.1%), overall available targets (351). and air yards (2,914), per 4for4.com. Of course, Robert Woods will eat into some of that availability; however, he's now 30 years old and returning from a November ACL tear — not a major concern to Burks' production value.
And while Burks isn't quite as dynamic off the line as A.J. Brown, their games are strikingly similar. Burks won for years in the SEC with his strong lower half that allows him to laugh off contact to power through tackling attempts. He's sneaky-good in traffic down the field too.

Burks certainly has a huge opportunity in Nashville. Not only is he the replacement for AJ Brown (who was traded by the Titans to the Philadelphia Eagles for the draft pick used to select Burks), but he's also already the No. 2 wide receiver on a team without much wide receiver depth. That means Burks should be a go-to option for quarterback Ryan Tannehill starting in week one.
The only real concern for Burks is the asthma issue he's dealt with during minicamps. Burks seemingly didn't have any issues at Arkansas, so I don't think it should be a major concern. But it's still an issue that's present that Burks has to deal with.
Burks has a ton of upside and could be a star in the NFL. But as with all rookies, he has to prove he can do it on a consistent basis. The SEC is the best conference in college football, so Burks has played against some great competition. But the NFL is an entirely different challenge. And we've seen plenty of SEC stars fade once they got their shot in the NFL. Burks will have to work hard, regardless of his talent, to make sure that he doesn't fade away as a pro.
