Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota could be returning to Nashville in 2022 as a starting quarterback.

No, he's not replacing Ryan Tannehill on the Titans' roster.

The latest free agency buzz from ESPN's Dan Graziano has Mariota connected to the Indianapolis Colts as a likely option to replace Carson Wentz (who was traded last week to the Washington Commanders).

"The name I'm hearing the most as the Indianapolis Colts' answer at quarterback is free-agent Marcus Mariota, who has been Derek Carr's backup with the Raiders over the past couple of seasons," wrote Graziano this weekend.

Graziano also mentioned Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins as a possible option for the Colts. Cousins, however, signed a one-year extension with the Vikings on Sunday, which seemingly makes Mariota an even more likely option for the Colts.

Mariota was recently named by ESPN as the most underrated free-agent quarterback available this offseason. With several teams still in need of a quarterback, it seems inevitable that Mariota, who led the Titans to a playoff win in early 2018, will get a shot to be a starter again in 2022.

The Pittsburgh Steelers could also be a strong option for Mariota.
