With deep threat WR Racey McMath placed on IR and guaranteed to miss the first four games of the 2022 regular season, the Tennessee Titans shook things up in their wide receiver room by bringing in 10-year NFL veteran Josh Gordon to the practice squad.

Gordon led the NFL in receiving yards back in 2013, a season in which he amassed 117.6 yards per game.

He's 6'3" and 225 pounds with with long arms that help him high-point a football thrown in coverage. His stature alone makes him a viable target in the red zone.

Ever since dealing with suspensions for violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, Gordon has been searching for a home that provides him regular opportunity to return to the player he once was.

The Titans are now his fifth team in five years.

While nobody expects to get the Josh Gordon of 10 years ago, the Titans are hoping that once he's acclimated to the offense, they can get some of the deep ball production and red zone targets they are missing with McMath on IR.

From the sound of it, things are off to a strong start.

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel praised Gordon's ability and character while sharing his first impression of the veteran wide out in Monday's press conference:

The Titans initially signed Cody Hollister to the active 53-man roster as the corresponding move to McMath's injury, likely due to his familiarity with the system.

That said, Gordon could be on a fast-track to getting activated following week one if he continues to make a strong impression on his new coaching staff.

It couldn't hurt to give him a shot.
