The Tennessee Titans had a chance to select Liberty quarterback Malik Willis with the No. 35 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Instead, the Titans went with Auburn cornerback Roger McCreary. And then they still managed to land Willis in the third round.
A perfect scenario for Tennessee, right?
It depends on who you ask.

Longtime ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr felt like the Titans reached for McCreary.
"I had an early Round 3 grade on cornerback Roger McCreary, and the Titans took him early in Round 2," wrote Kiper. "That's a little high based on value. He's going to fill a need — and he can play in the slot — but Andrew Booth Jr. and Kyler Gordon were still available when they picked."
This is just another example of how NFL front offices and draft analysts view prospects differently.
Remember, there were numerous draft analysts — including Kiper — who had Willis as a first-round selection.
NFL teams clearly didn't agree, which is why Willis fell all the way to the third round.
The Titans saw something they like in McCreary. And they liked him better than whatever they saw in Booth and Gordon.
Evaluating prospects is one of the hardest things in sports to do. Front offices miss all the time. Tennesee, however, feels really good about landing McCreary in the second round.
