The Cincinnati Bengals finalized their initial 53-man roster earlier on Tuesday. However, the team still has a lot of moves it needs to execute before having a final group for Week 1's game versus the Steelers.
Among those players to be moved is rookie cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt.
The second-round draft pick out of Nebraska will be placed on Injured Reserve, said Bengals HC Zac Taylor on Tuesday.
"Everything has been going well," said Taylor about the rookie's rehab. However, the Bengals HC didn't reveal a timetable for his return. "We know it's going to be at least four weeks… It's all been positive with his rehab so far."
In the meantime, the Bengals won't be able to work on the field with Taylor-Britt. The 22-year-old will miss the very valuable time before the season and will have to overcome that challenge upon his return.
Taylor is confident he can be ready when the time comes.
"I'll tell you this about Cam, his approach has been really good since this happened. He's here early in the morning, getting his stuff done," revealed Taylor. "He's doing everything that we ask him to do. So I'm optimistic (he'll be ready)."
The Bengals HC also confirmed DE Khalid Kareem is also headed to IR, which will open up two roster spots.
One of those spots is expected by many to be taken by WR Mike Thomas, who was cut on Tuesday. Cincinnati's coaching staff likes Thomas and will have a significant role on special teams as well as as a backup on offense.
