The Cincinnati Bengals have been hit with a lot of disrespect this offseason (such as predictions that they'll miss the playoffs in 2022), but what happened this week might be the worst we've seen so far this summer.

Madden ratings were revealed this week and Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was not among the top 10 highest-rated wide receivers.

Those ratings are garbage. No offense to any of the players listed — they're all great players — but Chase is better than most of the wide receivers on that list.

The former LSU star finished No. 4 in the NFL in receiving yards last season. Amari Cooper, who played in 15 games last season in the No. 1 scoring offense in the NFL (Dallas Cowboys), didn't even finish among the top 30 in receiving yards last season. Chase almost doubled his production.

Based on what we saw last season from Chase (reminder: he broke the Bengals' all-time single-season receiving yards record as a rookie last year), he should be rated about the same as Stefon Diggs or Justin Jefferson (Chase's former LSU teammate).

I don't see how they can justify leaving him out of the top 10. It's almost unbelievable, as Chase was clearly one of the best players in the NFL last season.

Madden ratings mean nothing, but it's something that players seem to enjoy. And it's obvious that Chase is going to this slight as motivation to get better. That's bad news for the rest of the AFC North.
