The Tennessee Vols have several needs they could fill via the transfer portal.

There's one position, however, where Tennessee absolutely has to make a move in the portal.

The Vols need to land at least one transfer linebacker.

With Jeremy Banks likely moving on after this season and Juwan Mitchell possibly not coming back in 2023, Tennessee has a major need at linebacker.

Aaron Beasley might be the only linebacker that UT can "count on" in a key role next season.

That's why the Vols need to make Virginia linebacker Nick Jackson a top priority.

Jackson is one of the rare players in the portal that could make an instant impact in the SEC.

The Atlanta, GA native was a member of the All-ACC second team this season after leading the Cavaliers in tackles for the third straight year.

Jackson, a former three-star recruit, was recruited by USF prior to signing with Virginia. At the time, Vols linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary was USF's linebackers coach/defensive coordinator, so there should be some familiarity there and possibly an existing relationship.

Considering Jackson's success at Virginia and his status as a "coveted player" in the portal, it will likely require a nice NIL deal for Tennessee to secure a commitment from the talented linebacker. But due to the Vols' needs, it would be money well spent.
