247Sports recently ranked the top 25 quarterbacks in college football and they have a favorable view of Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker.

The national sports publication has Alabama's Bryce Young at No.1, followed by Ohio State's CJ Stroud at No. 2.

Hooker came in at No. 6 in their rankings. He's the third SEC quarterback on their list (they have Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson at No. 5).

From 247Sports:

Hendon Hooker does not get the respect he deserves nationally. Behind closed doors, Tennessee's coaching staff believes this guy is the key ingredient to bringing the Volunteers back to national prominence in 2022 as a top 25 team throughout the season. He's coming off a 36-touchdown campaign after managing more than 3,500 yards of total offense as the facilitator within Josh Heupel's tempo-based scheme. If he stays healthy, Tennessee has a shot to upend several big-time opponents on the schedule if the defense is serviceable and Hooker's not playing catch-up with his fellow offensive starters. Hooker is the wildcard pick inside this top 10 with a chance to really shine this fall.

The biggest key to success for a college football program is having an elite quarterback.

And Hooker certainly proved to be elite last season with his breakout performance in the final 11 games of the season.

The Greensboro, NC native passed for 2,945 yards and 31 touchdowns (against only three interceptions) in 11 starts last season. He also rushed for 616 yards and six touchdowns.

Hooker has a good chance to top 4,000 total yards in 2022. If he approaches 4,500 to 5,000 total yards, then he should have a legitimate shot at going to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist. If that ends up being the case, it will likely mean that Tennessee had a tremendous 2022 season.
