The Tennessee Vols are hoping to impress 2023 five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava this weekend during his visit to Rocky Top.
Iamaleava is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 4 quarterback in the country and the No. 7 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class. He's easily the Vols' top recruiting target right now.
The California native arrived in Tennessee on Thursday night.
And on Friday, he got his first dose of love from Vol nation.
Nico's name is painted on the Rock on campus, which is the original Tennessee message board.
Iamaleava has made it clear during recent interviews that he wants to sign with a school that "wants" him. That extends to the fan base.
Tennessee fans haven't been shy about their desire to land the talented quarterback. And I think painting Nico's name on the rock certainly helps UT in this battle.
This is a massive weekend for the Vols. They can't win this recruiting battle this weekend, but they could lose it.
So far, it looks like things are going well.
Iamaleava, who is also considering Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Oregon, is expected to announce his commitment later this spring. So the Vols don't have a ton of time to convince him that Knoxville is where he needs to be.
