The last thing the Tennessee Vols need right now is bulletin board material.
But that's a mistake that Kentucky made this week.
One of the most remarkable things about this Tennessee team is that despite most of the roster never experiencing this kind of success (perhaps all of the roster), they've been able to stay focused and not get caught up in the hype.
Add some bulletin board material to that type of mindset and you have a recipe for a blowout, which is exactly what we saw go down on Saturday night in the Vols' 44-6 win against the Wildcats.
So what was the bulletin board material?
Well, earlier this week, Kentucky quarterback Will Levis told reporters that he'd love to throw 80-yard touchdown passes all game, but then he said that a long 10-play drive is "real football" (insinuating that Tennessee's offense isn't "real football").
UT's players heard that comment and that was evidenced by wide receiver Grant Frerking's Instagram story after the game in which he posted a photo with Hendon Hooker, Joe Milton, Cedric Tillman, and offensive coordinator Alex Golesh with the caption "real football".
Call it what you want, but the Vols have the most explosive offense in the nation. And every coach that's played Tennessee this season has left the field frustrated and searching for answers.
If Levis thinks scoring six points and getting boat raced in front of 101k fans is real football, then good for him. I imagine Vols fans are happy to watch Tennessee's version of football which seems real enough to me.
