The orange is unique, as is the design of the T on the helmet.
Most folks — even fans of other programs — can agree that Tennessee's helmet stands out. It's a clean, crisp look.
Uniform rankings are obviously subjective. The same goes for helmet rankings. But the Vols' helmet is probably viewed by most people as one of the top helmets in college football.
247Sports, however, doesn't agree.
The national sports publication recently ranked college football's top 25 helmets and they have Tennessee's helmet at No. 18.
This is such an absurd ranking. The Vols' helmet should be ranked top 10 easily.
Some of the helmets that 247Sports put above Tennessee's are laughable at best.
Arkansas? Louisville? Iowa?
Look, there are about 10 iconic helmets in college football.
- Ohio State
- Penn State
- Notre Dame
- Texas
- Miami
- Michigan
- Florida State
- USC
- Alabama
- Tennessee
The Vols are right there with all of those. The order doesn't really matter — again, it's subjective. But I think it's incredibly disrespectful to the tradition of Tennessee to put the Power T helmet all the way down the list at No. 18.
