The Tennessee Vols got some much-needed good news to start the week.

Offensive lineman Andrej Karic announced on Monday that he's transferring from Texas to Tennessee.

Karic is a former four-star recruit who signed with the Longhorns during the 2020 recruiting cycle. He served as the backup right tackle at Texas last season.

Tennessee badly needed to add an offensive tackle from the transfer portal. Darnell Wright, who has started 39 games at right tackle for the Vols, is heading to the NFL after this season.

Wright is set to play in the Orange Bowl (which will be his 40th start at right tackle) before starting his NFL draft prep.

Karic should be able to slide right into the right tackle spot for Tennessee as long as he adjusts well to the Vols' up-tempo offense.

Landing Karic likely takes Tennessee out of the mix for Rhode Island offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius, who is set to announce his transfer destination on Wednesday (Ohio State appears to be the likely choice there).
