2023 five-star quarterback Arch Manning is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation.

Manning, who is the nephew of Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 1 quarterback in the nation and the No. 2 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.

Unfortunately for Vol fans, it appears there's little chance of Arch playing at Tennessee.

Arch visited seven programs this summer. None of those programs were UT.

But despite the fact that Arch will likely be playing college football somewhere other than Rocky Top, there's still a strong family connection between the young quarterback and the Vol faithful. Fans will most likely be hearing a lot about Arch in the coming years. And there will be a lot of Peyton comparisons.

So far, Arch is living up to those comparisons.

In fact, Arch accomplished something that previously had only been achieved by Peyton and one other player.

According to 247Sports, Arch was named the third team captain in the modern era at Isidore Newman by his teammates. Peyton and Jay Tyler (who played at Stanford) were the other two players that were named team captains as juniors.

From 247Sports:

"He’s (Arch) fun to coach, great leader. He was named a captain. Our players vote on it. He’s only the third junior in the modern era to be a captain. Only Peyton Manning and Jay Tyler who played at Stanford are the other guys.” – Newman head coach Nelson Stewart to 247Sports' Steve Wiltfong

This is especially notable because Eli Manning, Arch's other uncle, also played at Isidore Newman — but he didn't receive this same honor.

It's abundantly clear at this point that Arch is going to be a special college football player.
