One of the Tennessee Vols' top 2023 commits is four-star tight end Ethan Davis.
Davis, 6-foot-5/221 lbs from Suwanee, GA (Collins Hill), is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 6 tight end in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of Georgia. He's also rated as the No. 89 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.
The Georgia native, who also plays basketball, has several offers from notable programs, including Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.
And those other programs aren't going to stop recruiting Davis just because he's committed to Tennessee. Which means the Vols can't stop recruiting him, either.
Fortunately for Tennessee, it doesn't sound like Davis is going anywhere.
Davis recently spoke to Rivals.com about his recruitment and he reaffirmed his commitment to the Vols.
“It has only gone up,” said Davis of his bond with Tennessee's coaches. “And me and the other commits, we are a close group. We talk every day. It is going really well with those guys. I am bonding with the coaches, coach (Alex) Golesh, and coach (Josh) Heupel."
"My mind is set on Tennessee for sure," added Davis. "That will not change.”
Davis is part of a group of commits — including five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava — who is working hard to bring more elite recruits to Tennessee.
The talented tight end specifically pointed out five-star offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa and five-star edge rusher Chandavian Bradley as two players he's trying to get on Rocky Top.
“I tell them there is nothing like here in Knoxville,” said Davis of his message to recruits. “There is a different feeling in Knoxville, and it’s not just football. It is a home vibe. Knoxville is not real crowded and still, it is a fun city. I point that out to them."
The Vols appear to be building something special with this recruiting class. Tennessee currently has the No. 9 ranked 2023 class in the nation. If they land a couple more of their top targets, we could see the Vols' 2023 class surge to a top-five ranking.
