Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker had a fun challenge publicly issued to him recently by his father.
And it's a challenge that Tennessee fans would love to see Hooker complete.
Hooker's father, Alan, recently spoke to HBCU Gameday about Hendon and his brother, Alston (who is a quarterback at North Carolina A&T).
Alan pointed out that neither Hendon nor Alston have ever accomplished a feat that he accomplished as a quarterback at North Carolina A&T in the mid-1980s — passing for six touchdowns in a game.
"Neither of them has yet to throw six TDs in a college game, like I did," said Alan recently. "That’s still a record here at A&T.”

Alan also pointed out that the incredibly humble Hendon likes to brag a little bit when it's just him, his father, and his brother.
“He’s (Hendon) faced some tremendous challenges,” said Alan. “He’s been able to overcome them. But Hendon’s biggest problem is he thinks he’s the best quarterback in the house. So that’s what we constantly have to debate about. We have to pull straws on who had the best stats, the best games, and who’s overcome the most. They (Hendon and Alston) think they’re faster than me. I’ve got evidence that I could run too. We’re happy. It’s a good competition.”
As for throwing six touchdowns in a game? Hendon came close last season, throwing for five touchdowns in the Vols' loss to Purdue in the Music City Bowl.
The Greensboro, NC native should have a good shot at six touchdowns in a game this season. Josh Heupel's up-tempo offense will provide plenty of opportunities for Hooker to air it out this season. And now that he's more comfortable in the offense, I'd expect to see him take advantage of more of those opportunities.
