Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker is the top senior in college football for the 2022 season according to Bleacher Report.

Brad Shephard of Bleacher Report recently ranked the top 10 seniors for the 2022 college football season and he has Hooker at the top of his list.

Here's what he had to say about Hooker:

Hooker was essentially an afterthought heading into last season, and few gave the Virginia Tech transfer a second thought. First-year Tennessee coach Josh Heupel was set on Michigan transfer Joe Milton III as the Vols' starting quarterback, and former top prospect Harrison Bailey was still on campus, leaving very little opportunity for Hooker.

When Milton got hurt against Pittsburgh in the season's second game, though, Hooker replaced him and never looked back. He wound up producing some spectacular numbers in the Vols' resurgent season, fueled by Heupel's high-octane offense.

Hooker was quite a story last season. The former Virginia Tech starter wasn't expected to be a key contributor for the Vols in 2021. In fact, Hooker was just supposed to be a depth player for Tennessee.

Instead, Hooker quickly became one of the best players in the SEC.

Hooker passed for 2,945 yards, 31 touchdowns and just three interceptions in 11 games as the Vols' starting quarterback last season.

The scary thing for the rest of the SEC is that Hooker should be even better in 2022. He's now had a full offseason in Josh Heupel's offense, meaning he should be even more comfortable being the on-field general for Tennessee this upcoming season.
