While Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hinted that they could be active ahead of the NFL's Trade Deadline, no deal was made.

In the last two weeks through today, there have been 15 trades. The most in the history of the league from the start of the season until the deadline. One of those belonging to Dallas.

To give the front office credit, the trade for Johnathan Hankins filled a serious need for a run-stopper at nose tackle. However, it also created a crowded room on the defensive line.

Which complicates things even more with the eventual return of DL Tarell Basham.

So instead of acquiring a player, Dallas has instead thinned out their numbers along the defensive line.

According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys are letting go of their former second-round pick Trysten Hill.

Hill's second-round selection has never really been realized in Dallas. Not playing due to conditioning, injury and poor play, Hill has been a 'bubble' player for much of his career. Playing under three different defensive coordinators in four years.

While Hill has shown flashes of potential, he's only ever been a rotational piece who frequently plays less than 20 snaps per game. Recording just four tackles for loss and .5 sacks in 25 career games.

Even though his snap count is up this year, he was a healthy scratch last week versus the Chicago Bears. With the Dallas Cowboys looking to shop him ahead of the deadline.

With no suitors interested, the Cowboys will instead release him and allow him to continue his career elsewhere. On a team with less depth inside and potentially playing time.
