The season for the Las Vegas Raiders is spiraling out of control.

The defense has not been up to par, but no part of the Raiders' roster has performed well enough. Coaching certainly has played a part in that as well.

That being said, a few defensive decisions by the front office are killing this team right now.

During this past off-season, they acquired pass rusher Chandler Jones. Jones had been one of the top rushers in the NFL for the past few seasons.

That being said, he was getting older. Jones is already 32 years old, and most edge rushers decline rather quickly after the age of the 30.

Through nine weeks of play, Jones has just half of a sack for the Raiders.

Meanwhile, three veterans that the Raiders have cut ties with over the last couple of years have twice the amount of sacks that Jones does this season.

It is yet another rough look for the Raiders' front office.

The situation is rough because many people were excited by the move to get Jones. He was supposed to be a dynamic duo alongside Max Crosby.

Clearly, the fit was not the best, and it hasn't worked out like the Raiders or Jones had hoped.

Crosby has been veery good this season, but he's been the only bright spot on the defensive line.

Shooting for the stars instead of keeping some veteran talent in the building has costed the Raiders this season.
