16-for-28, 113 yards one touchdown and an interception.

That was all the New Orleans Saints got from quarterback Ian Book, who looked overwhelmed and overmatched in a 20-10 preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers.

It wasn't the game he wanted to have.

He had another botched snap. And he threw an interception on an incomplete route from Taysom Hill. And in all, he didn't deliver in a game where he needed to.

Book struggled to move the ball upfield. And despite New Orleans cutting quarterback K.J. Costello, Book steel feels like an odd man out within the offense.

It wouldn't be surprising to see the Saints rolling into the season with just two quarterbacks on the active roster with Book out of the equation. And at this point, he may be playing for a spot on the practice team more than anything else.

See for yourself:

It hasn't been a pretty preseason for Book. And if history is any indication of the direction things may go, it may not get much better than this for him.
