A to Z Sports Film Room analyst James Foster broke down the film to reach several takeaways on the Dallas Cowboys. One of which is the fact that Tyler Smith

One of the biggest reasons why the offense was expected to struggle in 2022, especially once Dak Prescott went down injured, was the lack of a quality offensive line. Although some pieces were in place, the question marks were too many to feel fully confident in the unit.

The biggest of questions was rookie Tyler Smith, who prepared as a left guard in the offseason only to find out he'd have to start at left tackle right away.

The results couldn't be any better.

"In a 2022 re-draft, Tyler Smith would be my #1 offensive tackle," says Foster. "Tyler Smith was supposed to be a project. When it comes to length, power, and movement ability he was arguably the most athletic tackle in this draft."

No one should be surprised about Tyler's athleticism, as Foster points out. What's crazy is that his technique has improved faster than expected in Dallas and he displays flashes of perfection in some of his reps.

You can see some of those snaps in the breakdown below. Foster discusses how Tyler Smith uses the snatch-trap, trey block, among other aspects of his game.

Another reason why the offense is operating at a higher level than expected is Terence Steele.

"Steele's development over the past three years has been incredible to watch," points out Foster.

"If I were in charge of constructing the Cowboys roster for the future, I would prioritize building around Tyler Smith and Terence Steele as my left and right tackle."

In the video, Foster also breaks down Jake Ferguson and discusses why he's the perfect successor to Dalton Schultz. The franchise-tagged tight end might not be in the Cowboys' long-term plans and Ferguson is a huge reason why.

As for two players that have flown under the radar, the film analyst also shouts out DT Osa Odighizuwa and WR Noah Brown. While you're enjoying the Cowboys' breakdown, make sure you also subscribe to the YouTube channel for more film room analysis!
