What makes the Buffalo Bills’ offense one of the most explosive units in football goes beyond Josh Allen’s elite play at quarterback. Expectations are also high for wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis.

In most cases, a quarterback is only as good as his weapons. Diggs, who has established himself as one of the best receivers in football, is paired with Gabe Davis, who is poised for a breakout season of his own.

On Wednesday, Pro Football Focus released season-long projections for Allen’s top-two targets.

If PFF’s projections turn out to be true, the Bills will have two 1,000-yard receivers for the first time since 2002 (Eric Moulds and Peerless Price).

For Diggs, 108 receptions and 1,297 yards would total the second-most catches and yards in a single season through his seven-year career. Diggs’ 2020 season, in which he led the NFL in catches (127) and receiving yards (1,535), will be tough to top.

As for Davis, the third-year wideout has yet to eclipse 600 yards receiving in a single season. He has 35 receptions in each of his first two years with Buffalo.

When taking into account these projections, PFF is implying Davis will average 17.2 yards per reception. That would’ve ranked fourth in the NFL last season trailing Deebo Samuel, Ja’Marr Chase, and Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Davis has proven to be a big play machine. He averaged 17.1 YPR in his rookie season, which ranked fourth in the league. His 15.7 YPR in 2021 solidified his status as one of the NFL’s best deep threats.

Only God and Mike Florio will know how these projections were calculated.

That being said, if this tandem can hit these numbers — Davis especially — then Josh Allen will be the happiest man in Buffalo.
