I've suggested several times over the last month that the Green Bay Packers should make a blockbuster trade for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Metcalf is looking for a new contract as he enters the final year of his rookie deal.

The former Ole Miss star is primed to become one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL. And so far, he hasn't been able to work out a deal with the Seahawks. As a result, Metcalf skipped Seattle's mandatory minicamp this week.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll commented on Metcalf's contract situation this week, indicating that Seattle hopes to extend the star wide receiver.

"These are crucial weeks to get something done and we'll see what happens and hope that we can work something out," said Carroll (via ESPN). "[We've] really intend to get that done."

It feels like there's a window of opportunity here for the Packers to make a deal — kind of like when the Las Vegas Raiders swooped in to make a deal for Davante Adams earlier this offseason.

Metcalf, however, won't be cheap.

The Packers received a first and second-round pick from the Raiders for Adams. Metcalf, who is five years younger than Adams, could command a similar haul.

Green Bay, like most NFL teams (except the Los Angeles Rams), would prefer to hang on to their draft picks. But getting a player like Metcalf is worth giving up some draft capital.

If the Packers trade for Metcalf, not only would it likely make them the Super Bowl favorites in 2022, but it could persuade Aaron Rodgers to stick around for another season beyond 2022.

That's why I think Green Bay should offer Seattle a trade package that includes quarterback Jordan Love, a second-round pick, and a third-round pick.

This move would allow the Packers to keep their first-round pick, get something out of Love (who will be a free agent after the 2023 season), and add a dynamic player to the roster.

Would Seattle agree to this deal?

That's hard to say. It depends on how tough Metcalf makes things in Seattle. If he decides he wants to play elsewhere — and it feels like that's where this is heading due to the quarterback uncertainty in Seattle — then the Seahawks could be at his mercy.

Metcalf is of course worth a first-round pick and then some. And if that's what Green Bay is forced to give up to get him, then it's still a smart move for the team to make.

But the Packers need to at least try to keep their first-round pick. Seattle badly needs a quarterback, so this might interest them. And while Love might not be their answer, he's a former first-round pick that could still end up being a franchise quarterback for a team.

There are several different avenues that Green Bay could explore while trying to make a deal for Metcalf, but this is where I'd start if I were calling the shots for the Packers.
