The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been known for high-flying offense ever since Tom Brady came to town.
But, that hasn't been the case with the 2022 version of the team.
There have been struggles aplenty over the first three weeks of the season, primarily due to the amount of injuries on that side of the ball. The Buccaneers were in solid shape, overall, heading into Week 1's matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. But then the offense lost Chris Godwin, Donovan Smith, and Julio Jones before the game was over.
The Buccaneers went on to score 32 combined points over the next two weeks.
They averaged 30 points per game in 2021.
That's not what you want heading into a matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, even if they have had some struggles of their own over the last couple of weeks.
Fortunately, the Buccaneers should get two of the aforementioned three players back for Sunday night's showdown. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Godwin and Jones are expected to play. There shouldn't be any worry about Russell Gage, either.
This is obviously great news for Brady and the rest of the offense. The team is clearly missing its key pieces and the return of both Godwin and Jones will undoubtedly give the unit a big boost.
And, per Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud, starting left tackle Donovan Smith is expected to play, as well.
Add in the return of Mike Evans, who served a one-game suspension in Week 3, and Bucs fans are on track to see the Buccaneers offense of old heading into this game.
