The Dallas Cowboys pulled out a tough win in the final drive against the Texans last week, giving them back-to-back 10 wins campaigns for the first time since 1996.

Dallas has been deprived of consistent postseason success since those glory days of Hall of Fame coach Jimmy Johnson and the infamous triplets. However, with a win against the Jaguars, the Cowboys can take another step in reliving those times, as it will clinch their second consecutive playoff appearance for the first time since the 2007 season.

Mike McCarthy hasn't had a smooth road since coming to the Cowboys. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic as well as losing quarterback Dak Prescott for the season with an ankle injury set him up for disaster, and a 6-10 campaign was the result. McCarthy would again be faced with a challenging year last season as Prescott and several key players missed significant time, yet the Cowboys went 12-5.

Prescott was sidelined for five games with a broken thumb after the Cowboys' loss in Week 1 to the Buccaneers. Running back Ezekiel Elliott has missed multiple games, cornerbacks Jourdan Lewis and Anthony Brown are out for the season, and there's been a constant shuffling on the offensive due to injuries. Sprinkle in wide receiver Michael Gallup missing the first three games, and left tackle Tyron Smith being added to the active roster as recently as Saturday, McCarthy has yet again been faced with adversity in 2022.

The Cowboys being in this position is a testament to the hard work of the players, without a doubt. However, there's something to be said for keeping a large group of men focused no matter the circumstances, and McCarthy has done that with the Cowboys.

It's clear, despite the trials and tribulations, McCarthy has given the Cowboys the stability they have needed at head coach for quite some time.
