Micah Parsons has become one of the most popular players in the NFL, and it's for the right reason, he plays the game of football at an extremely high level. That type of stardom draws a lot of eyes, especially when playing for the Dallas Cowboys.
The appeal of Parsons grabbed the attention of FS1's Undisputed, and last season's Defensive Rookie of the Year was supposed to appear every Tuesday throughout the 2022 season. However, Parsons didn't make an appearance on the show this week, sighting loyal to his teammates as the reason why.
“My starting QB went down and we lost, I just didn’t think it was appropriate for me to be on the show at that point," said Parsons. "I need to step up and be a leader. It shouldn’t be on TV, it should be in this locker room.”
Parsons and his leadership will certainly be needed with Prescott out. The Cowboys' offense will not be operated by backup quarterback Cooper Rush, and with the current offensive line issues and a depleted room at wide receiver, points may be hard to come by for a while.
The Cowboys came into the season expecting to lean on their defense to be the strongest unit of the team after leading the NFL in turnovers and stopping opponents on third down in 2021. Now, with Prescott out, Parsons and the Cowboys' defense will have to carry an even bigger load to make up for likely offensive deficiencies.
Despite the Cowboys' loss in their season opener to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cowboys only allowed 19 points. A big reason why was Parsons, who registered sacks on Tom Brady on consecutive drives in the second quarter which both occurred in the red zone, and the Buccaneers only managed a total of three points.
Dallas will need more herculean efforts like that from Parsons for the team to stay afloat until the return of Prescott returns, and it starts this Sunday with a Bengals' offense more than capable of lighting up the scoreboard.
