The Las Vegas Raiders still technically have a shot at making the playoffs. Like there is a scenario in which certain teams lose and they get in. Is it likely? No.

However, players still hold onto that and use that as juice to fuel them this season. I personally think the season is basically already over, because if we know one thing about this team this season, it's that as soon as it gets good, it gets bad.

I mean look at the three-game win streak. They had every opportunity to go on a four-game win streak. There is no reason they should have lost that game to the Rams. But they did because this team just can't stand to see themselves do great, for some odd reason.

But, the fact that there is still a way for them to make the playoffs drive players. Derek Carr said himself that that will drive them to be better this season for the rest of this season.

“Yeah, absolutely. I mean, as competitors, there's absolutely still the possibility. I mean, we had five percent chance last year, or whatever it was," Carr said Thursday.

Last year was a bit different though. I mean kind of. This year, they already have one more loss than they finished last season and there are still four games left to be played.

The things that have to happen this season for them to make the playoffs are far crazier than what they needed to do last season. They currently have a 99% chance of not making the playoffs.

"So, crazier things have happened," Carr continued. "But none of that even matters unless we take care of today and win this week. And playing against the Patriots, Bill Belichick, and their staff and all the players that they have, that’s not an easy task. So, for us, if we want all those things, we can hope for and all that. But we have to be able to put in the work this week to make sure that happens."

To say that crazier things have happened is a bold statement because this would truly be crazier than what last season was, if we are speaking numbers, of course.

I will say this about making the playoffs, though. This season they have not really had all of their skill position players on the field at the same time. Week 2 was the last time they did.

Now they are getting Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller back this week, which could only help their chances even more, well help their chances at winning out.

However, there are games, there are things, that the Raiders cannot control at this point that could keep them out of the playoffs. I mean, it is great that Derek Carr feels that way because that's what you want from your quarterback is to feel like there is still a chance, but I don't see it happening.

Carr is giving fans hope, though. I mean, if there is anything last season did teach us it's that we shouldn't count Carr out.
