One of the knocks of Justin Fields and his progress with the Chicago Bears, has been his ability to stack together consistent, positive performances week to week.

It's a problem most young players struggle with.

Even the most talented and "pro ready" young prospects go through struggles when it comes to consistency, as it's tough to get an immediate grasp on the formula when you don't have much in the way of experience.

That especially rings true for quarterbacks that aren't accustomed to the ways of the professional level. Specifically for prospects that didn't have much experience running pro level concepts in college.

That's why Fields' development was such a fascinating storyline to follow.

Would he meet the same obstacles like the many rookie signal callers before him? Or would he stand tall and separate himself from the norm?

Well, the former applied to Fields throughout his rookie season and much of his second year this season.

But today against the Dallas Cowboys, Fields found a way to stack together another good week, after his impressive performance last week against the New England Patriots.

Such a feat is a first for Fields, and another reminder regarding what the Bears potentially have with Fields if he can cut down on mistakes and plays more consistent football.

Fields threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns, while adding another 60 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The performance was one of the best of Fields' young career.

The numbers don't do the performance justice though. At times, it felt like Fields was carrying the offense, even singlehandedly keeping the team in the game due to the Bears' defense failing to get stops.

Not to take anything away from the efforts of Darnell Mooney and the rest of the running game.

But Fields' play was certifiably dependable, a stunning development one wouldn't have associated with Fields just a couple of weeks ago.

Whether Fields can stack another good week together and continue his run of consistency? That's a question for a different time and day.

But this week to week consistency was something the Bears had to be impressed with. Certainly for the present, as this team continues to compete and potentially win football games.

But for the future as well, as this franchise attempts climb back up the mountain of notoriety, a mountain they once stood at the top of for so long.
