The Dallas Cowboys (9-3) take on the Houston Texans (1-10-1) on Sunday for what should be a one-sided affair at AT&T Stadium.
While there are likely a few rookies who will give the Cowboys their all, the focus will be on Dallas. Especially number 11, Micah Parsons.
Recently, Parsons has been a subject of intrigue for the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Likely coming down to Parsons and San Francisco 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa.
Each is having an enormous impact on their respective defenses, but Micah Parsons is proving to have the greater overall effect on the Cowboys defense.
Here is how the two of them compare on the season so far:
Micah Parsons
12 games:
- 84 total tackles
- 20 tackles for loss
- 3 forced fumbles
- 12 sacks
- 6 multi-sack games
- 29% pass rush win rate
- 32 QB pressures on 333 pass rush attempts. Rushing on 84.3% of passing downs.
- 3 pass breakups
Nick Bosa
11 games:
- 36 total tackles
- 15 tackles for loss
- 1 forced fumble
- 14.5 sacks
- 4 multi-sack games
- 22% pass rush win rate
- 43 QB pressures on 341 pass rush attempts. Rushing on 99.1% of passing downs.
- 0 pass break ups
The winner needs at least 26 votes out of 50 to win the award. Last season, Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher TJ Watt won the award with 42 votes, tying the single-season sack record in only 14 games.
Parsons would finish second in votes with five and LA Rams DL Aaron Donald finished third with three.
This time around, the Dallas Cowboys superstar has a much more likely shot at the award. A year after his rookie domination, he is showing to not only be one of the best pass rushers, but one of the best players in the league.
Regardless of position, and more than as just a pass rusher.
