The Kansas City Chiefs won their second preseason game over the Washington Commanders, 24-14. As you can expect, some players played good and some bad.

Here are the risers and fallers from the Chiefs' first preseason win of the year.

Risers

RB Isiah Pacheco

Pacheco has been a riser since he entered the league. It isn't often that you see a 7th-round pick get the type of praise he has so far. Pacheco started from the bottom, and now he's here.

When I say here, I mean getting snaps with the first team.

I could be wrong, but Pacheco had at least four touches with the first team, that includes Patrick Mahomes. Pacheco is trending up, and will probably continue to do so just based on what we have seen.

WR Justin Watson

Watson showed last week what he can do for the people who were unfamiliar with his game.

Nothing changed against the Commanders as Watson caught a big 39-yard pass from Mahomes while playing with the first team. He finished the game with two catches for 53 yards on three targets.

Even though he's had a great preseason, Watson was not a lock to earn a roster spot as the Chiefs began their preseason schedule against the Chicago Bears.

After last week, he showed he deserved one. This week, I think he solidified his spot on the 53-man, especially when you look at who he is playing with.

TE Jody Fortson

Fortson is a riser because this is his first game back since the injury, and what did he do? Well, he found the end zone twice. And both touchdowns were thrown by Mahomes.

Fortson was a riser in his time last season until his season-ending injury. We weren't quite sure if he would get back to that level again, but it appears that he has. Yeah, it's just the preseason, but he looks very good.

Not to mention he is playing well with the first team. It's almost as if he hasn't missed any time. Fortson will be a red zone target every game, as long as he's healthy.

Fallers

The run game

The Chiefs weren't really able to get anything going on the ground for the second straight game. The Chiefs rushed 19 times with a running back, and only gained 28 yards on the ground in that position group.

Yes, they had 63 rushing yards. However, 35 of them were from quarterback Shane Buechele.

It's only the preseason, but this is the perfect time to experiment with certain aspects of the offense. Part of that is also the offensive line, which is the next faller on the list.

Backup offensive line

The offensive line, the backups, that is, were also not very good. We thought the depth there would be great coming into the season, but it hasn't looked the part just yet.

The two backup quarterbacks that played against Washington were sacked a combined three times and were hit five times. Poor pass protection wasn't the offensive line's only shortcoming, however.

The offensive line was also a huge reason the Chiefs couldn't get the run game going. The starting group was great at opening up gaps for the running backs last season. The backups, not so much.

This needs to improve, especially when considering how often trench players are hurt.
