The Dallas Cowboys drafted CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs in the 2020 NFL Draft. Both have blossomed into franchise cornerstones early in their professional careers.
Diggs led the league in interceptions during his second season. He earned All-Pro honors and is a certified ballhawk. Lamb has flashed elite talent in spurts and has the potential to be among the best wideouts in the league.
The two showed up in a big way during the Cowboys' Monday Night Football victory over the New York Giants. Both CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs played key roles in the divisional win.
Lamb shows up when it matters
CeeDee Lamb struggled with drops early on in Monday's win. The biggest of which came on a nicely thrown deep ball from Cooper Rush. A catch likely would have resulted in a touchdown.
Nonetheless, Lamb made up for that drop in the second half. He rose to the occasion late in the game and played an important part in Dallas coming away with the road win.
Lamb grabbed four catches for 48 yards and a one-handed touchdown during the Cowboys' go-ahead drive. When the pressure was on, the former first-round draft selection made his presence felt in a big way.
"CeeDee has that 88 on for a reason. CeeDee is a superstar. He had a hell of a game. He had that one drop early, but he responded and had that big drive, that big touchdown catch," Ezekiel Elliott said after the win. "CeeDee is a hell of a player, and he’s only going to get better."
The Dallas Cowboys need more of that CeeDee Lamb moving forward. He has obvious talent that showed up in the biggest moments on Monday.
Diggs closes with big play again
Two weeks in a row, Trevon Diggs has made a big play to win the game for the Cowboys. He made an important open-field tackle to close it out against the Cincinnati Bengals in week two.
Then, he grabbed his first interception of the season to end things against the Giants in week three. He has stepped up to the plate in back-to-back weeks, backing up his All-Pro status when it really mattered.
The Dallas Cowboys now sit at 2-1 on the season, even without Dak Prescott behind center. Two 2020 NFL Draft picks have played crucial roles in that, helping the Cowboys stay afloat while the franchise quarterback is sidelined.
This is why the Dallas Cowboys invested premium draft capital into CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs. It is paying off, and the team deserved credit for that.
