The Chicago Bears are in the midst of a massive rebuild under new general manager Ryan Poles.

Most fans understand that it's going to take some time for Poles to fix the mess that previous general manager Ryan Pace left behind.

Poles is basically using this season to reset the roster and get the Bears in a better financial position.

While that's probably the right approach, given the state of team when he took over, Chicago's future success is largely dependent on the development of quarterback Justin Fields.

And if there's one area where Poles has failed this offseason, it's been not getting Fields some help.

Darnell Mooney looks like he could be a perennial Pro-Bowler at wide receiver. But outside of Mooney, Fields doesn't have a lot of great options.

That's why CBS Sports thinks Chicago would be an ideal landing spot for veteran wide receiver Cole Beasley.

From CBS Sports:

The Chicago Bears don't have much at the wide receiver position at the moment, as Equanimeous St. Brown, Darnell Mooney and Byron Pringle currently make up the top of the depth chart. Beasley would immediately be the most experienced pass-catcher at the position and could be a solid slot option for second-year quarterback Justin Fields. He completed just 58.9% of his passes during his rookie season, so adding a slot option like Beasley — who caught 73.2% of his targets last season — could be the type of security blanket to make Fields more efficient and help Chicago's offense move the chains.

Beasley would be a nice addition for the Bears. He wouldn't break the bank, which would allow Poles to continue on his path to financial flexibility. And he would give Fields a reliable veteran wide receiver that would help move the chains. It's a win for everyone.

New Chicago head coach Matt Eberflus was an assistant with the Dallas Cowboys for six of the same seasons that Beasley was in town, so there's some familiarity there that would make this move make even more sense.

The Bears absolutely need to get Fields some help. Signing Beasley would help solve that problem and make Chicago a more competitive team in 2022.
