The Dallas Cowboys expected Michael Gallup to be back on the field on Monday Night Football. The wide receiver even had his first full practice since his injury during the week and the coaching staff was vocal about Gallup's expected debut.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, there has been a big change of plans. Gallup is now expected to be inactive versus the New York Giants.

The news definitely comes as a disappointment for Cowboys Nation. Fans were hoping to see #13 back on the playing field even if he would've done so under the restriction of a pitch count. His mere presence would've likely demanded respect from the Giants' defense, giving CeeDee Lamb friendlier looks.

Not all is bad news, however. According to Jane Slater, Gallup hasn't suffered any setbacks in his rehab. The decision to rest him another week is all about caution. It also comes with somewhat of a domino effect for the Cowboys' receivers. Even more so with tight end Dalton Schultz being unlikely to play.

To beat the Giants, the Cowboys will need another shocking performance like Noah Brown's last week. The former seventh-round draft pick caught 5 of 5 targets and racked up 91 yards and a touchdown versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Now, Brown gets another shot at shining as the Giants zero in on Lamb. His chemistry with Cooper Rush could prove beneficial yet again.

The wide receiver group could also see Jalen Tolbert's debut after Dennis Houston was waived last week. Many took it as a sign of Gallup being ready, perhaps including the Cowboys.

But with Gallup out, Houston's 34% snap participation (versus the Bengals) needs to go to somebody. Tolbert – if active – could take over all of those and make the most out of Gallup's absence.

The door is wide open for the third-round pick to silence the doubts around him after being a healthy scratch for the first couple of games.
