Green Bay Packers legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Brett Favre threw some major shade at Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams this week.
Favre told TMZ Sports that he's expecting a major drop-off in production from Adams in 2022 after the star wide receiver was traded from Green Bay to Las Vegas earlier this offseason.
From TMZ:
"It's just hard to shift gears," Favre said, "especially from a player as prolific as Aaron Rodgers."
Adams was a stat monster in Green Bay, particularly this past season … when he caught 123 balls for 1,553 yards and 11 TDs. Favre, though, is expecting that to change in 2022-23 after he was traded to the Raiders … telling us, "I'd be shocked if he had the same year."
"I think Derek Carr is a very good quarterback," Brett said. "But, he's not in Aaron's league yet. May never be. And, that's no disrespect."
Now, to be fair to Favre, I don't think he was trying to throw shade at Adams. But he definitely did — even if he didn't mean it that way.
Favre is basically saying that Aaron Rodgers made Adams. I think most would agree with that sentiment — except for Adams and the Raiders.
I'd say odds are pretty high that Favre will be right. He's correct that Derek Carr isn't in the same class as Rodgers. And he almost certainly never will be.
Adams is coming off the best season of his career after catching 123 passes for 1,553 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2021. It's hard to imagine him even getting close to replicating those numbers with Carr in Las Vegas.
