The New Orleans Saints haven't quite got off to the start they would have liked, as they sit at 1-3 on the year. This team shouldn't be 1-3, no, but things have happened that have been out of the Saints' control.

If there is one thing they can hang their hat on, though, it's that they have one of the best rosters on paper in the NFL. In other words, eventually, that talent will catch up to everyone else.

When you look at the defense, they have nearly everything. This year the team hasn't been great at getting to the quarterback, but they have the pieces to do so.

Look at Cameron Jordon, Marcus Davenport, Shy Tuttle, and David Onyemata, and you can tell there is no reason they shouldn't be getting to the quarterback.

This team has one of the best secondaries in the league on paper. Tyrann Mathieu, Marcus Maye, Marshon Lattimore, and Paulson Adebo haven't been just great as a unit.

The receiving corps should be the best in the league, if not top-three. But they haven't performed that way, in my opinion. Even if rookie Chris Olave has been outstanding.

However, even with all this going on, there is still one thing the Saints have right. While a whole lot of teams don't have a great quarterback situation, New Orleans does.

On Sunday, Andy Dalton stepped in for Jameis Winston. Here is how the center Erik McCoy thought he played.

"Yeah, I thought Andy [Dalton] handled himself really well," McCoy told reporters. "He's a vet guy, he has been in a couple of different systems now. He went out there and executed the plan that we needed him to execute, and it was a good performance."

Winston sustained an injury last week and was unable to play, but the Saints weren't worried at all, as Andy Dalton could be a starter in this league, but the Saints are fortunate enough to have him as the backup.

A lot of teams don't have a great quarterback situation. Either they don't have a good starter, or they don't have a good backup behind that starter. The Saints have both.

Dalton, the backup, almost won the Saints the game against the Vikings. Unfortunately, the team just came up short. However, the loss definitely isn't on him.

Dalton finished Sunday 20/28, which is 71% completion, 236 yards, and a touchdown through the air. Dalton played very well for a guy that doesn't play much anymore.

The Saints should be grateful they have a guy like Dalton because not everyone has their quarterback situation down.
