The Tennessee Vols are among the top six schools for a 2021 defensive lineman from Alabama.
Three-star defensive tackle Anquin Barnes included the Vols, along with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Nebraska in his top six this week.
Barnes, 6-foot-5/299 lbs from Montgomery, AL, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 21 player in the state of Alabama and the No. 33 defensive tackle in the nation.
Barnes told Rivals that he doesn't expect to commit until later this summer or early in the 2020 season.
The Alabama native pointed out to Rivals that Tennessee was the first SEC school to offer, which "meant a lot". Barnes added "I also like how they recruit me, the love they show and I have been up there a lot too".
Barnes might not be an extremely highly rated player, but he has elite size. And you can't teach size.
Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt has been working hard to improve the size on Tennessee's roster since arriving on Rocky Top. Adding Barnes, who still has room to add some weight, would certainly help the Vols achieve Pruitt's goal.
Tennessee currently has eight players committed to their 2021 recruiting class.
