CBS Sports suggested this week that the Tennessee Titans have an "under-the-radar" player on their roster that could turn into a star in 2022.
Jeff Kerr, who covers the NFL for CBS Sports, wrote this week that Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons could put the league "on even more notice" this upcoming season.
Here's what Kerr had to say about Simmons:
Jeffrey Simmons has already emerged as one of the top defensive tackles in the game, yet some NFL fans probably don't realize how dominant he was in 2021. A Second Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection last year, Simmons finished with 52 pressures and 8.5 sacks with 16 quarterback hits. He was just one of three defensive tackles to finish with 50 tackles, eight sacks, and 15 quarterback hits last season — joining Aaron Donald and Jonathan Allen.
One of the NFL's best players under the age of 25, a healthy Simmons has shown he's one of the top defensive tackles in the league. A double-digit sack season will put the league on even more notice.

If you're a Titans fan and you're reading this you're probably wondering how in the world any could suggest that Simmons is an "under-the-radar" player.
I think it's important to remember that this is written from a national perspective. While Simmons isn't under the radar in Nashville, he is on a national level. For example, fans of NFC North teams probably don't know much about Simmons, despite his 8.5 sack season in 2021.
If Simmons continues to play at a high level in 2022, not only will more NFL fans know about him, but he'll also likely receive a mega-contract extension from the Titans.
The former Mississippi State standout had his fifth-year option picked up by the Titans earlier this offseason, which means Tennessee has Simmons under contract for two more seasons. The Titans could let things play out and use the franchise tag on Simmons, or they could go ahead and get a deal done with the talented defensive tackle.
Getting a deal done in the near future would probably be wise. Simmons is only going to get more expensive from here.
