A couple of weeks ago, New York Giants defensive back Logan Ryan took a shot at Tennessee Titans fans by saying the fan base was "non-existent".

"I played in a franchise in Tennessee where the fan base was nonexistent," said Ryan, who played in Nashville from 2017-2019. "You couldn’t even get fans to the games, you had to put tickets half off to get fans to the games."

Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan seemingly defended Ryan's comments the next day.

Lewan: The fans that are upset are the die-hard fans who have been supportive and have been there since the late-90s, that have had season tickets for the whole time the Titans have been (in Nashville). They have every right to be upset. But that comment wasn’t directed at you. As a younger franchise, we have grown and grown and grown and continued to make this great city of Nashville more proud of the football team.

“And so, although they were harsh words, we are a growing franchise and the loyal fans – and they know who they are –  they shouldn’t be mad about those comments because those comments weren’t directed at them.”

After the Titans' win against the Houston Texans on Sunday, Lewan took a moment to praise the fans that made the trip to Houston.

"It was cool to see them (Titans fans) show up," said Lewan. "It was very cool…it was loud. It was loud for them (the Texans) when they were on offense."

"They play a key role when the defense is on the field," added Lewan. "It really helps, it really does. They do more than they think they do, so thank you Titans fans."

Titans fans will have another chance to pack Nissan Stadium in a couple of weeks. Tennessee gets a first-round bye in the playoffs by virtue of securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC via their win over the Texans on Sunday.

Tennessee will play the worst remaining seed in the AFC (after the three wild card games) on either January 22 or January 23.
