A hugely popular international event has guaranteed that it's coming to Nashville if/when the Tennessee Titans get a new stadium.

Butch Spyridon, president and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation, appeared as a guest this week on the Lamestream Sports podcast to discuss a variety of topics, including a potential new Titans stadium.

Spyridon revealed during his appearance that WWE Wrestlemania has already committed to coming to Nashville if the Titans build a new stadium that's enclosed.

"We could do events year-round (with a new stadium) instead of April to October," explained Spyridon. "You start to touch on things like Wrestlemania. They have point blank said 'you put a roof [on a new stadium], Wrestlemania's coming to Nashville' — as a week-long event."

"All of that would be internationally televised," added Spyridon.

Titans president and CEO Burke Nihill said last month that a new stadium is "plan A" for the Titans.

At this point, I'd say a new stadium in Nashville should be considered likely.

That's mostly because renovations to Nissan Stadium would essentially cost more than a new stadium (including costs to maintain Nissan Stadium through 2039 when the lease expires).

From The Tennessean:

Nissan Stadium will need close to $900 million in upgrades to remain stable until 2039, according to the analysis, on top of the $1.2 billion needed to renovate the facility today. A new stadium could cost between $1.9 billion and $2.2 billion, according to recent projections.

Those numbers essentially make building a new stadium an easy decision for the Titans and the city of Nashville.
